The Adult Learning Programme
The Adult Learning Programme is an exciting portfolio of classes offered on an evening and weekend basis.
At the Centre for Lifelong Learning we appreciate the varied experience and perspectives that adults bring to their studies. Many of our students take courses to help with career advancement, to open up new horizons, for academic purposes or for the sheer enjoyment of learning with fellow enthusiasts. Others are testing out university-level work before making decisions about further study or personal development. We have a thriving community of students who just keep returning, either because they love a subject, find new aspects in their subject to explore, or simply because they enjoy meeting fellow enthusiasts. Our tutors are specialists in their subject and experienced teachers of adults. The exciting Strathclyde combination of an interesting subject, an excellent tutor and a supportive group of fellow students makes the experience of learning enjoyable and worthwhile. THERE ARE NO SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS, AND FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS ARE NOT NEEDED FOR THESE PART-TIME PROGRAMMES. So what's on offer?
We offer a portfolio of over 200 evening and
weekend classes. The diverse programme provides a wide choice, designed
to inform and entertain.

Credit bearing classes offer nationally
recognised credit points, which can be accumulated towards the Open

The Centre also now offers a programme of classes, seminars and workshops, which takes place over the summer months.

The 25 week Pre-Entry Certificate Course is
designed for mature students who wish to undertake degree level study,
but who do not have normal University entrance requirements.

This class aims to allow Open Studies
students who have usually gained at least 20 credit points within a
particular Open Studies Pathway to undertake independent study in that
area of the Open Studies curriculum.
